Our most recent election – and the morally skewed actors behind it – spawned a new wave of troublesome tactics in politics over the past year. Political trust amongst Americans continues to reach new lows as an countless scandals emerge. From President Trump’s blatant lies to his cabinet member’s wrong doings, Americans possess little reason to invest their faith in our broken system. This phone scandal – detailed below – might just be the most bizarre political act we’ve seen to date.
Numerous Anti-Trump Americans across the United States now share another patch of common ground: they’re receiving mysterious phone calls containing an alarming threat. Even stranger, the calls are executed automatically by a Robot that picks up on a Anti-Trumpers.
According to Gizmodo, an android app called Ownage Prank is facilitating robocalls all over the U.S and in some parts of Canada. The robocalls left voicemail messages for Americans who posted Anti-Trump material on their social media accounts. Can you guess what the messages said?
Brett Vanderbrook, who was one of the Americans to receive a message, told Gizmodo his story. According to Vanderbrook the robot caller demanded he cease his “derogatory” anti-Trump attack. This is the exact message he received:
The voicemail claimed” “We’ve been monitoring some of your posts and it does seem that you’ve been making some rather negative comments about President Trump. Is that correct? Listen, we’re going to have to ask you to lay off on the negative and derogatory posts about President Trump, okay?”.
Watch the video to hear the message:
In an interview with Gizmodo, Vanderbrook said, “It was kind of threatening. I was dumbfounded at first and then creeped out. Then I was angry and that’s when I decided to share it.” In the voicemail, a man’s voice warns Vanderbrook that they have been watching him.
The voice went on to ask Vanderbrook if he “wanted to make American great again” and ended the call by saying, “You’ve been warned.”
Although Americans want to shrug this off as nothing more than a sick joke, the creepiest part of this entire story is the fact that the calls have only been sent to people who oppose Donald Trump.
